Welcome to ShortU (accessible at stu.cm), a URL shortening, link management and click analytics platform operated by INTELSO SARL, a technology development company based in Yaoundé, Cameroon. By accessing or using this service you agree to these Terms of Use in their entirety. If you do not agree with any of these terms, please do not use ShortU.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, shortening a link or otherwise using the ShortU platform, you confirm that you:

  • are at least 13 years old;
  • have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract;
  • have read and agreed to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy.

If you are using ShortU on behalf of an organisation, a company or a legal entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these terms, in which case "you" and "your" refer to that entity.

2. Description of Service

ShortU provides the following services:

  • URL shortening — converting a long URL into a unique 6-character short link (e.g. stu.cm/AbCd12);
  • Custom codes (vanity codes) — choosing a custom short code (Starter plan or above);
  • QR code generation — automatic QR code for every shortened link;
  • Click analytics — tracking the country of origin, device type, browser and referrer for every click;
  • Advanced link features — password-protected links, one-time links, click limits, conditional redirect rules;
  • REST API — programmatic access to all link management features;
  • Plan and subscription management — Free, Starter and Pro plans.

INTELSO SARL reserves the right to modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the service at any time, with reasonable notice given by email or on-site announcement. Continued use of the service after any modification constitutes your acceptance of the changes.

3. Account Registration and Security

To access dashboard features you must create an account by providing a valid email address, a username and a secure password. You may also sign in via Google, LinkedIn, Twitter/X or Facebook.

You are solely responsible for:

  • keeping your credentials (email and password) confidential;
  • all activities that occur under your account, whether performed by you or not;
  • immediately notifying INTELSO SARL of any unauthorised use or security breach of your account by contacting our team.

INTELSO SARL shall not be liable for any loss or damage resulting from your failure to comply with these security obligations.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use ShortU only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms. You must not use ShortU to shorten, distribute or promote links that:

  • contain malware, phishing content, spyware, ransomware or any other harmful software;
  • promote illegal activities, violence, terrorism, human trafficking or trade in protected species;
  • spread hate speech or discriminatory content based on race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability or nationality;
  • infringe the intellectual property rights of third parties (copyright, trademarks, patents);
  • contain adult content (pornography, sexually explicit material) accessible to minors;
  • constitute spam, chain letters, pyramid schemes or unsolicited commercial communications;
  • collect personal data without consent, including login credentials (credential phishing);
  • violate any person's privacy or facilitate harassment, intimidation or stalking.

INTELSO SARL reserves the right, without prior notice, to:

  • deactivate or delete any link that violates these rules;
  • suspend or terminate any account that breaches these terms;
  • report illegal activity to the relevant authorities.

Content moderation decisions are at INTELSO SARL's sole discretion.

5. Plan Limits and Payments

ShortU offers three plans:

  • Free — limited number of links, 30-day analytics retention, basic QR codes, no custom codes;
  • Starter — unlimited links, 365-day analytics retention, multi-size QR codes, custom codes, CSV export;
  • Pro — all Starter features plus custom-logo QR codes, branded domain, geo and device redirect rules, priority support.

Paid subscriptions are subject to the following:

  • Payments are processed via our payment providers (CinetPay, Campay, MTN MoMo, Orange Money or another active USSD provider).
  • Subscription prices are those shown on the Plans page at the time of purchase.
  • Subscription payments are non-refundable, except as required by applicable Cameroonian law or CEMAC regulations.
  • Upon expiry or cancellation of a subscription, your account automatically reverts to the Free plan and your data is retained, but access to paid features is suspended.
  • INTELSO SARL reserves the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice by email.

6. Intellectual Property

INTELSO SARL's rights: The ShortU brand, logo, platform, algorithms, source code, user interface, documentation and all content created by INTELSO SARL are protected by copyright and trademark law. Any reproduction, modification, distribution or commercial use without INTELSO SARL's prior written consent is strictly prohibited.

Your rights: You retain all intellectual property rights in the URLs you shorten and the content your links point to. By using ShortU you grant INTELSO SARL a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process and serve your shortened links and associated analytics data, solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.

7. Service Availability and Disclaimer of Warranties

ShortU is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. INTELSO SARL does not warrant that:

  • the service will be uninterrupted or error-free (we target a 99.5% SLA, but maintenance windows may occur);
  • the service is free from errors, bugs or security vulnerabilities;
  • the results obtained through ShortU will meet your specific expectations.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Cameroonian law, INTELSO SARL and its officers, employees, partners and contractors shall not be liable for:

  • any indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential damages, including loss of revenue, data or profits;
  • any service interruption affecting your business;
  • any loss resulting from your use of or inability to use ShortU;
  • any loss resulting from unauthorised access to or alteration of your data.

INTELSO SARL's total liability to you for any cause whatsoever is limited to the amount you actually paid for the service in the previous 12 months or 100,000 FCFA, whichever is greater.

9. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless INTELSO SARL and its officers, employees, agents and partners from and against any claim, liability, damage, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:

  • your use of ShortU or the links you create;
  • your breach of these Terms of Use;
  • your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights or privacy.

10. Termination

By you: You may delete your account at any time from your dashboard settings. Account deletion results in the permanent deletion of all your data within 30 days.

By INTELSO SARL: INTELSO SARL may suspend or terminate your account immediately, without notice or liability, in cases of:

  • breach of these Terms of Use;
  • detected fraudulent or illegal activity;
  • non-payment of a subscription after a 14-day grace period;
  • prolonged account inactivity (more than 24 months without login) for free accounts.

Upon termination your right to use ShortU ceases immediately. The provisions of sections 6, 8, 9 and 11 survive termination.

11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cameroon, including Law No. 2010/012 of 21 December 2010 on Cybersecurity and Cybercrime and applicable CEMAC regulations.

In the event of a dispute arising out of these terms or the use of ShortU, the parties agree to first seek an amicable resolution. Failing agreement within 30 days, the dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Yaoundé, Cameroon.

12. Changes to These Terms

INTELSO SARL may update these Terms of Use at any time. For material changes we will notify you by email (to the address registered on your account) or by a prominent on-site notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of ShortU after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
